Given info : x -axis , y - axis and a line passing through the point A(6, 0) forms a triangle ABC.

To find : if A = 30° , then the area of triangle in square units is.....

Solution : see diagram, it is clear that AB = 6 unit

tan30° = BC/AB

⇒1/√3 = BC/6

⇒BC = 2√3 unit

So area of triangle ABC = 1/2 × AB × BC

= 1/2 × 6 × 2√3 sq units

= 6√3 sq units.

Therefore the area of triangle ABC in square units is 6√3.
