The theme of this poem is that if you are either a rich or a poor person, for the everyday things no one can get away with it. The poet illustrates that the ordinary things are needed by everyone. The rich person may have an expensive thing but the function is same of everything i.e. to complete the everyday things. Everyone needs water and soap to bathe, food to eat, pen to write, books to read and a place to sleep. No one can never get away the ordinary or everyday things (as said in the poem).
