This poem by Vikram Seth shows us through two main characters, the frog and the Nightingale , how humble people are thoroughly exploited by those who are strong and cunning. It is actually a reflection of our society where poor people are regularly oppressed by the rich and powerful. Similarly, the Nightingale was forced by the frog day after day to sing even when it was tired and the time was unfavourable . The frog also had a jolly good time, enjoying the money earnes as entry fee.
