The theme of Small Pain in my Chest is anti war. This poem tells us about the mental as well physical and emotional stress suffered by a soldier on the battlefield. It tells us about the sense of duty and commitment of a soldier who considers every pain small in front of his duty . All war poems depict war as the cause of death and destruction. It deeply impacts all nation of the world-their infrastructure, their economy and the life of the citizens. The poet feels the greater guilt on the part of humanity at not being able to give up wars.
