Solution:

There are 10 people in a room,  already

You go there , hence 1 more added

so Total  people = 10 + 1  = 11

People in room are  11.

Kill 8 of those

Hence dead people = 8

alive people  = 3

Total People = Dead + alive = 8 + 3 = 11

10 people are in a room. Now, you enter in.

Thus,

( total no. of people inside ) = 10 + 1 = 11

After killing 8 people,

( 11 - 8 ) = 3

Therefore, the total no. of persons alive are 3 persons.
