50/102 is the probability of preparing project 1 and 52/102 is the probability of preparing project 2.

Answer:

i) 26 / 51

ii) 25 / 51

Step-by-step explanation:

BASIC DATA GIVEN:

No. of students in class 9 A: 35

No. of students in class 9 B: 34

No. of students in class 9 C: 33

Total no. of students in class 9: 35 + 34 + 33

                                                  = 102

ii) We know that even numbers have to prepare a project on chapter 2 [polynomials].

No. of even roll numbers in class 9 A: 17

No. of even roll numbers in class 9 B: 17

No. of even roll numbers in class 9 C: 16

Total even roll numbers in class 9: 17 + 17 + 16

                                                       = 50

P(E) = No. of favourable outcomes/ No. of total outcomes

P(of a student preparing project on chapter 2) = 50 / 102

                                                                             = 25/51

i) Either you could use the same method as above, but for simplicity, I've used the below method:

P(E) = 1 - P(not E)

      = 102/102 - 50/102                                                                     [1 = 102/102]

      = 52/102

      = 26/51

Hope this helped you!
