there are 400 students in a school who can speak telugu and 300 can speak hindi.total strength of the school was 600.find tne no. of students who can speak both hindi and telugu.
hint:telugu=[n(T)],hindi=[n(T)]..n(TUH).

the ans should be 100 as 400+300=700 but total students=600
so hindi+telugu should be=total students extra students =700-600=100
so ans.=100

we know that
N(TUH)=N(T)+N(H)-N(TnH).........n is intersection
given N(T)=400
N(H)=300
N(TUH)=600
THEREFORE
N(TnH)=N(T)+N(H)-N(TUH)
         =400+300-600
         =100
