x + y = 36 … (1)

2x + 5y = 84 … (2)

Multiplying (1) by 2 :

2x + 2y = 72 … (3)

Subtracting (3) from (2) :

=> 2x + 5y - 2x - 2y = 84 - 72

=> 3y = 12

=> y = 4

So, the no of Rs 5 coins are 4.
