There are 50 students in a class, of which 40 are boys.the average weight of class is 44 kg and that of girls is 40 kg.find average weightof boys

no.of students in a class = 50

no.of boys in it = 40

no.of girls in it = 10

average weight of the class = 44 kg..

we know that average of n terms = sum of n terms/no.of terms

substituting above info..

44 = sum of weights of the students /50

44*50 = sum of  weights of the students

2200 =  sum of  weights of the students


given average weight of girls = 40 kg..

average weight of the girls = sum of weights of the girls / no.of girls

40kg = sum of the weights of girls / 10

400kg = sum of the weights of the girls


then the sum of the weights of the boys alone will be 2200 - 400 = 1800kg

average weight of boys will be

= sum of the weights of boys / no.of boys

= 1800/40 = 45 kg
