Referring to the point u have made clear in your question that the banana cannot be cut into half but nowhere it is mentioned that u can cut to a bit further to make smaller and smaller pieces.

(Considereing the size of each banana is same ) So i will have to make these 7 bananas into such equal parts that they can be divided among 8 people. For this to happen i must have a common multiple which can be a factor of both 7 and 8. Hence least common multiple can help me here (letting the banana pieces to be of maximum cut size LCM can help because, least the cut parts larger the size part) then hence the LCM of 7 and 8 is 56 ..

So i will cut the bananas into 56 equal parts and let them fill their tummies
