Let The No.Of Family Donated rs 100 = x
According To given statement
100x + 50 * 111 = 44450
100x = 44450 - 5550
100x = 38900

The number of families donating Rs. 100 is 389.

Given:

For a festival, some families donated Rs 100 each, and other families donated Rs 50 each. The total money collected was Rs 44,450.

To find:

Express this in the form of an equation with two variables.

Using this equation, find the no. of families who donated Rs 100 each if the no. of families donating Rs 50 is 111

Solution:

Let 'x' be the number of families that donated Rs. 100

Total amount donated by 'x' number of families = 100x

Let 'y' be the number of families that donated Rs. 50

Total amount donated by 'y' number of families = 50y

Hence, Total amount donated = 100x + 50y

From the data, the total amount donated = Rs 44,450

=> 100x + 50y = 44450

=> 2x + y = 889

Therefore,

The required equation is 2x + y = 889

Given that, the no. of families donating Rs 50 is 111

=> 2x + 111 = 889

=> 2x = 778

=> x = 389

Hence,

The number of families donating Rs. 100 is 389.
