The ratio of the mixture is 4y:3x

Given data :

Milk and water ratio in first mixture = 5:3

Milk and water ratio in second mixture = 5:4

So,the milk and water amount in the first mixture = 5x and 3x (x = variable)

So,the milk and water amount in the second mixture = 5y and 4y (y = Variable)

Let,the new ratio of mixture = a:b

So,the milk and water amount in the first mixture = 5ax and 3ax

So,the milk and water amount in the second mixture = 5by and 4by

So,the total milk = 5ax + 5by

Total water = 3ax+4by

Now

(5ax+4by) : (3ax+4by) = 4:3

15ax+12by = 12ax+16by

3ax = 4by

3ax/b = 4y

a/b = 4y/3x

a:b = 4y:3x (answer)

Answer:

1:3

Step-by-step explanation:

5x and 3y(milk and water)first ratio

5y and 4y(milk and water )second ratio

a:b(milk and water )new ratio

5ax and 3 ax

5yb and 4 yb

5ax+5by÷3ax+4by=4÷3

15ax+15by=12ax+16by

15ax-12ax=16by-15by

3ax=1by

ax÷by=1÷3

a:b=1:3
