Given : There are two points on a highway A and B. They are 100 km apart.

An auto starts from A and another auto starts from B simultaneously. If they travel in same direction, they meet in 8 hours,

if they travel towards each other, they meet in 2 hours.

To Find : the speed of two autos

Solution:

Speed of one auto = X km/Hr

and speed of another auto = Y km/hr

Assume that X > Y

they travel in same direction,

Relative Velocity =  X - Y km

Time = 8 hr

Relative Distance Covered =  100 km

=> (X - Y) 8 = 100

=> 8X - 8Y = 100

=> 2X - 2Y = 25

they travel towards each other,

=> 2(X + Y )  = 100

=> 2X + 2Y  = 100

Adding both  => 4X  = 125   => X = 125/4

& Y = 75/4

speed of two autos.  125/4  & 75/4  km/hr

= 31.25  & 18.75 km.hr
