Given :  coordinates of A, B and C are (-2, -3), (2, 3) and (3, 2) respectively

There are two routes to travel from source A to destination B by bus

First bus reaches at B via point C

second bus reaches from A to B directly.

both buses have same speed.)

To Find : by which bus do you want to travel from A to B

Solution:

Without Doing any calculation Direct route /distance is always shortest so I will travel from A to B by  second Bus which go directly

On Calculation Basis

Second Bus : Direct from A to B

(-2, -3), (2, 3)

Distance between A and B =   √(2 - (-2))² + (3 - (-3))²

= √4² + 6²

= √16 + 36

= √52

= 2√13

= 7.21

via point C

Distance = AC + CB

A (-2, -3)   C (3, 2)

Distance between A and C =  √(3 - (-2))² + (2 - (-3))²

= 5√2

= 7.07

C (3, 2) B (2, 3)

Distance between C and B = √(3 -2)² + (2 - 3)²

=  √2

= 1.41

Total Distance via point C = 7.07 + 1.41 =  8.48

Direct Distance between A and B =7.21

Hence to  travel from A to B , Second Bus ( direct bus is preferred)
