AnswEr:-

The breadth of the playground is the same as the diameter of each pond.

If we join the two semi circular ponds together, a cylindrical pond is formed. Therefore, the volume of the pond is the same as Volume of a Cylinder, that is πr²h.

Now the diameter of the pond is equal to the breadth of the playground which is 21m. Radius, r of the cylindrical pond is half the diameter =(21/2)m. The depth of the pond, h = 1.5m and π =22/7.

So Volume of ponds = πr²h

= 22/7 × (21/2)² × 1.5

= 22/7 × 441/4 × 3/2

= 11 × 63/4 × 3

= (11 × 63 × 3)/4m³

= 2079/4m³

We now need to convert this, that is 2079/4m³ to litres. Note that

1m³ = 1000 litres

Therefore, 2079/4m³ = 2079/4 × 1000 litres

= 2079 × 250 litres

= 519,750 litres

The volume of the cylindrical pond is the same as the volume of water the ponds can hold. Therefore, the volume of water the ponds can hold is 519,750 litres.
