To find : shape of trajectory,

Solution: It is the case of ' charge moving in combined electric and magnetic field.

Here electric and magnetic field are in x axis and alpha particle are in y axis .

Trajectory of path is depend on angle between v and B .

If angle between v and B = 0° and 180°, then path traversed by charge particle is straight line.

when angle between v and B = 90° ,then trajectory is circle.

when angle between v and B = acute angle then trajectory is helix.

Now , the above condition is angle between v and B = 90° ,then trajectory is circle.

But their is an electric field ,directed in the direction of magnetic field which opposes the alpha particle because aplha particle is a positive charge.

Therefore due to force by electric field circular path change in helix path.
