Sir,
It's a great welcome step towards a better education by the central government, state governments and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to introduce CCE. It is the continuous and comprehensive evaluation system during the academic year. It's a year already that CCE is in place since 20-09-2016. Its has been a success. I congratulate the government and the CBSE board for this reform in the examination system.
CCE introduces evaluation of the student while in the institute periodically during the academic year. The old traditional system of year-end evaluation was not good at all. In that system students could ignore studies till February every year. CCE enables a student to be evaluated not only in academic subject based knowledge, but also a number of other aspects. They are experience, work, projects, skills, public speaking, behaviour, steadiness, innovation, arts, humanities, sports, athletics, music, motivation and leadership.
So good it is, as some students lacking in academic skills, can show their skills in so many other activities. They too could come out with honor. Activity based learning is the best learning process. Activity is the difference between education (learning) and studying. The periodic evaluation results are shown periodically to parents. So parents could discuss at home with the student and see that their ward correct their shortcomings and improve further. Further the parent teacher meetings enable more understanding of the students limits and areas to work upon.
The change from marks to grades is a welcome change. The stress on the students is less now. The syllabus that is covered in the previous evaluation is not required to be studied again for the following tests. Students are relieved, no doubt about it.
I am sure that the effort to reform education and evaluation systems continue and we will see the best students bringing glory to their schools and the nation in future. The all round development of students is necessary in today's global scenario, and that's what we expect from CCE.
I would like to mention that I like CCE and so do my friends. It brought out the best from me.
