There is a circular park of radius 24 m and there is a pole at a distance of 26 m from the
centre of the park as shown in the figure. It is planned to enclose the park beplanting
trees along line segments PQ and PR tangential to the park.
1) find the length of pq and pr
2) if six trees to be planted along each tangential line segments at equal distances find the distance between any two consecutive trees??

Answer:

PQ + PR = 20 m

There is a circular park of radius 24 m and there is a pole at a distance of 26 m from the centre of the park

PQ & PR are tangents

=> PQ = PR

PQ² =  OP² - OQ²

OP = 26 m

OQ = 24 m ( Radius)

PQ² = 26² - 24²

=> PQ² = (26 + 24)(26 - 24)

=> PQ² = 50 * 2

=> PQ² = 100

=> PQ = 10 m

  PR = 10 m

10 m + 10 m = 20 m(ANSWER)
