There is a gas in a sphere of radius 2r at a pressure 'P units. It is connected
to another vacuumed sphere of radius 'Y by a tube having negligible volume
Find the approximate presure of the gas in the system,
8
1) P/8
2) 8P
3) 7P
4) 9/8P

The sphere having radius 2r has the volume=  4/3 π(2r) ^3  and pressure P.

Another sphere having radius r has the volume   4/3πr ^3

Since, PV=constant,

4/3 π(2r) ^3 ⋅P=  4/3 πr ^3 ⋅P f

⇒8r  ^3  P = r^3 P f  ⇒P f =8P

∴ Final pressure will be 8P.
