The missing number is 7

Solution:

Given that,

8,3,9,7,14

There is a missing number in the following data having range 11 and mean 8

Let "x" be the missing number

The mean is given as:

Mean = \frac{ \text{ sum of all observations }}{ \text{ number of observations }}

Therefore,

8 = \frac{ 8 + 3 + 9 + 7 + 14 + x }{6}\\\\48 = 41 + x\\\\x = 48 - 41\\\\x = 7

Thus the missing number is 7
