there is a uniform wire of resistance R. A person cuts it into 3 equal pieces and joins them in a parallel. Find whether the resistance of the combination is more or less than the resistance of the original wire.

the new resistance will be
1/Re = 1/R + 1/ R + 1/R
= 3/R
Re = R/3
so the new resistance will be less than the initial one.
