There is an athlete who is falling on cushioned bed in a high jump athletics. Why do you think so such a bed is arranged? Is there an involvement of any of the Newton’s law? If so, mention the statement of that law.

Answer:

it is because of momentum

Explanation:

when we jump we have a pressure in our legs ,so when we land if there is nothing except ground then we would get hurt .But if there is a cushiond bed then the pressure would decrease when we land

Explanation:

See, Newton's second law has got a big role to play here. It says the force applied on a body is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum of the body. Now, incase of the athlete, the cushion is used so that the entire momentum of the athlete doesn't come to an end in a very small amount of time, else our body will suffer greater force and may get hurt. But cushion increase the time for the momentum to be made zero, so force acting on our body is less and so chance of getting injured is also less.

Hope it helps
