There is heavy rainfall in Queensland but d Atacama desert is arid.

i think its because there is plenty of water and rain in queensland evaporation can take place on the ocean surface easily...and in dessert places since there are no much water bodies there is no evaporation hence no rain....if u want more specific ans tell me
