Explanation:

The first thing we must be clear about is that our happiness depends on the happiness of others with whom we share life. Are we really happy living only for ourselves. No. We are social beings and we have a family which is our first priority. The family members are not others. They are dear to us. Our relationship with them is very special. We are happy to do everything for them and invest our time and money in them eagerly. Most of us take our responsibilities seriously and do our best for our family even at the cost of our health. Thus we develop a lasting bond.

Helping strangers depends on our will and capacity to give. If we have enough and we feel a sense of gratitude for having got a good life and health for all the efforts we have made, we must be humble and understand the suffering of others. There are many unfortunate ones to whom life is very harsh and we are moved by their plight as fellow human beings. You become helpful when you realise that there are those who need help. Your help in cash or kind may not alleviate their suffering but your timely help may give them some temporary relief and you will have the satisfaction of having been helpful to someone in a small way. When you continue helping the needy in your own way you become a better person. It really helps you to grow and you feel good. Doesn’t this feeling give you happiness.

I always remember Swami Vivekananda’s words when it comes to help. He says that the person who gives spiritual help is the greatest benefactor of mankind. But such help is not easy to give. If you can help someone stand on his own feet and take care of himself, you have given him true help and he will remember you all his life for showing him the way to live. He has learnt to live without anybody’s help through your guidance and there can’t be any greater help.

In conclusion I would like to emphasise that we should consider ourselves lucky to have got an opportunity to help others. There is nothing to feel proud if you help someone. It is said that our left hand shouldnot know about the help rendered with our right hand.
