Indian inscriptions are engraved into stone walls of temples, metal plates and monuments of stone.
Inscriptions give us an idea of mythological characters, currencies, religious mantras and festivals celebrated during the Ashokan Era.
Our epics Ramayana and Mahabharata are also inscribed on the stone walls of ancient Indian temples.
The languages used in those periods are Prakrit, Tamil, Pali etc which can be understood by reading the inscriptions.
