Where the summer monsoon ends, winter monsoon begins. The winds now coming from the northeast cause minimal rainfall over the rest of the country, but the eastern coast of India receives considerable amount of rainfall. This is because the winds pass over Bay of Bengal, picking up moisture in the process.
