It is said that an ideal fuel burns very efficiently.
This efficiency is defined by how much the fuel burns and how much residue is left.
If there is very little residue left, i.e. all the constituents of the fuel burn completely and leave no residue.
But in reality, fuels do not burn completely and always leave some residue.
Good fuels leave little residue and bad ones leave more residue.
Ideals fuels also should not emit harmful gases.
