►Open Book Examination is an exam where students are allowed to take resource materials like text-book, note book, or any other materials in the examination hall, they are judge on their ability to find and apply the information accordingly.

►Open Book Examination students are not required to engage in parroting of whole concepts, rather it will be emphasizing on understanding of the concepts, students have to read the concepts in depth to understand not superficial reading for the marks.

This will remove the tension or fear of examination form the students which have become integral part of the present education system.

►As students can have more information than they could have ever been expected in memorize exam, so the questions can be longer more involved and require students to integrate information from more sources or types.

►This permits more realistic exam questions that mimic professional work where information is available and the skill is in determining the appropriate application.

►This encourages student to develop new learning strategies to ensure their success, enhance information retrieval skills and place greater focus on knowing how to use information.

Hence, Memory-based Examination is an exam done to judge students on their memory power of what they have learned.

During Memory-based Examination student should memorize the entire concept whether they understand or not.

Those who are able to memorize huge amount of information are called ‘Book Worms’ and their world is limited to the small areas of study.

Memory-based Examination is also important because education as we all know need to give a student all the required knowledge and skills, this will help students in retaining memory power.

As the exam is based on the memory of what the students have learned, if the questions are mixed or twisted, majority of the students will have hard time to analyze as their knowledge is limited to their memory.

Lastly, I would like to conclude that both examinations are impotent on their own ways but I prefer for Open Book Examination.
