total apples are = 1100 apples
total mangoes are = total apples - 220
=1100-220= 880 mangoes
total apples and mangoes = 1100+ 880= 1980

Given:

Total number of apples at a fruit stall= 1100

The number of mangoes = 1100 - 220 = 880

Total number of apples & mangoes at a fruit stall = 1100 + 880= 1980
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There were 1980 apples & mangoes altogether at a fruit stall.
