• Let total votes be x.

Also, total of votes = 100%

» During electron one candidate get 62% votes and another get 144 votes.

A.T.Q.

One candidate get votes = 62%

Votes for another candidate = Total votes - Votes of first candidate

⇒ 100% - 62%

⇒ 38%

We have to find the total number of votes.

i.e.

Votes of first candidate - Votes of second candidate = 144

⇒ 62% - 38% = 144

⇒ 24% = 144

Above we let number of votes be x.

So,

⇒ 24% of x = 144

⇒ (24/100) × x = 144

⇒ 24x/100 = 144

⇒ 24x = 144 × 100

⇒ 24x = 14400

⇒ x = 14400/24

⇒ x = 600
