The bell has gravitational potential energy.

GIVEN

Height of the tower = 50 meters

Weight of the bell = 190N

TO FIND

The type of energy in the bell.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

Since the bell is present at a height of 50 meters, The bell has gravitational potential energy stored in it.

Potential energy is defined as the energy stored in a body because of its position with respect to some zero position.

Formula to calculate potential energy is given as follows;

P = mgh

Where,

P = potential energy

g = acceleration due to gravity

h = height at which the object is placed.

It is given,

Weight of the bell = 190N

We know that,

Weight = Mass × Acceleration

Therefore,

190 = Mass × 9.8

Mass = 190/9.8 = 19.38 grams

Putting the values in the potential energy formula;

P(E) = 19.38 × 9.8 × 50

= 951,100 J

Hence, The answer is 951,100 J.
