Plastics:-

Synthetic materials which become soft on heating are known as plastics. We could mould plastics into desired shapes on heating and then hardened them so as to make durable articles.

Thermoplastics:-

Plastics that easily becomes soft on heating are known as thermoplastics. They can be easily moulded in different shapes by heating and cooling.

Example:-

  • Polythene
  • Polystyrene

Thermosetting plastics:-

Plastics that are once moulded and cannot be moulded again and again into different shapes are known as thermosetting plastics. They keep their size and shape same even at high temperatures.

Example:-

  • Bakelite
  • Melamine
