Chapter Name - Jesus Brings Lazarus Back to Life
1. How long had Lazarus been buried before Jesus came?
2. How did Martha and Mary show their faith in our Lord?
3. Why did Jesus say that he was the Resurrection and the
Life?
4. How did Jesus raise Lazarus to life?
Answers
1.The account notes that Jesus loved Lazarus and his sisters and that when Lazarus died of illness, Jesus wept and was “greatly disturbed.” Although Lazarus had been entombed for four days by the time Jesus arrived at Bethany, he was raised by Jesus from the dead and emerged from the tomb wearing his burial cloths.
2.When Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home. "Lord", Martha said to Jesus, "if you had been here, my brother would not have died. ... "Yes, Lord", she told him, "I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world."
3.The resurrection blasts apart the finality of death. ... Jesus made this wonderfully profound statement that changed the world, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live" (John 11:25). The resurrection is our great hope.
4.Jesus asked Mary and Martha to move the stone from the tomb. Jesus looked up to heaven and prayed to His Father and then loudly commanded Lazarus to rise and exit the tomb, where he had been buried for four days. When Lazarus came out, he was fully restored, and Jesus told the people to remove his grave clothes.
