• The map is a visual representation of a selected area or features of the earth, usually on a flat surface using traditional symbols, at a scale  reduced  compared to the actual scale due to the different types of natural and man-made features found on the earth and their collective representation is not possible on a single map.

• Maps helps us to travel from one location to another. They help us to organize information. They help us to figure out where you are and how to get where you want to go.
• Maps also allow human geographers to provide visual evidence to support claims that can be manipulated in presentation techniques such as choropleth maps.
