Three forms of verb *cut* are same as *cut*
They cut the cake :- is
1. Simple Present
This sentence would only be of Simple Present if Subject (Noun) would be singular like
He/She cuts the cake
But the tense may also be of
2.Simple Past:
As the subject (Noun) is plural and second form of cut is also cut.
Sentence can't be of any other tense because
There is no helping verb like
Are/Were/Have/Had/Have been/Had been/will etc etc
Hope you can understand
Thanks.
