Dear Grandfather,
How are you and grandmother? I heard grandmother is sick, I hope she is going well.
Last week I had a school camping trip! It didn't go that well at the start. We took a bus at 5 in the morning to get to our camp site. It was in the middle of nowhere. As soon as we got there we had to set up camp, it took forever. My friend was trying to set up our tent but couldn't get the poles to fit right. It was so funny watching her try to put it up.
A few others and I were in charge of making dinner that night. We had decided to make spaghetti bolognese. The pasta was boiled and the sauce was simmering and actually smelt really nice when a possum started stealing our pasta! We had to throw it all out. The whole group just got to eat pasta.
The next day we hiked out to a cave. The trek was alright, only about 5 hours total. In the cave there were the most amazing cave drawings! The looked really old, and we weren't allowed to touch anything, some of the guys did anyway though. The next day we were supposed to go hiking through a canyon, we were late because our teacher slept in. We were all ready to go but she had just woken up! By the time we got to stop for lunch it was late afternoon. On our way out the canyon, the sun had started to set. The most amazing sunset had begun. Light was bouncing of the walls casting eerie shadows everywhere. Once we got out out of the canyon we took some photos of the view. It was really pretty. That night we had marshmallows and hot chocolate after dinner. I really didn't think I would like the trip but I ended up having a really good time.
By the time I got home I was exhausted though. I fell asleep on the bus ride home. When I got home I wanted to show mum some photos but she said I stank and need a shower really badly. Next time I see you I will bring some of the photos I took with me. Some of them came out really well!
Hopefully we can have dinner soon with you and grandma. Maybe I can make a more successful spaghetti bolognese!
See you soon,
