You can write about how you wanted to go to a movie but your parents forced you to come with them to visit your grandpa who was ill and died that day. If you hadn't gone to see him, you wouldn't have gotten to say goodbye.
Or, he didn't die because he saw his favorite grandson which gave him the strength he needed to live.
