Every person should be as much of an individual as they can be. Mankind should be who they are on the inside and try to prevent themselves from being someone else. This action results in sin. You should be your own person, be who you were meant to be, and strive to be as different from everyone else as much as you can. This can be seen when Emerson states that, “Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another you have only an extemporaneous half possession” (160). This infers that all of your individual thoughts are full ideas, while only half of another’s ideas are in your possession. Your own gifts and abilities are worth more than another’s if you are to maintain your individuality. If you adopt any ideas from someone, that person will have kept their individuality while you have lost some of yours. Your mind is your own and no one can touch it except for you. You can think what you want to think and no one can change that. Each and every person has their own life to live and they shouldn't devote their valuable time to worrying about other people. The search for self-reliance comes from loving something for its intrinsic qualities and this is more often than not, our own individuality. The conclusions that one draws from an individual’s actions or beliefs can all be different, but the facts or constants used to understand these feelings should be the same from one

Answer:

Thinking about oneself as unique or as one among billions of others

Explanation:

Humans tend to be selfish in the short term and it is a well known characteristic trait. We tend to consider our sorrows, our own troubles a pedestal up than others. This idea is because of our understanding that our personal problems are exclusive and hence nobody else has gone through that level of suffering.

This is the basic reason behind the grief that one faces at certain instances. It becomes hard for anyone to see past that grief at that time. If a person is able to see the bigger picture and understand the harsh reality that nothing is exclusive in this world then the amount of grief and the degree of suffering can be drastically cut down.
