Packing

1. There are four characters in the narrative. The three men- George, Harris and the author,-Jerome himself, and their extremely mischievous dog, a fox terrier Montmorency.

2. Jerome volunteered to do the packing in order to boss over his other two friends having taken the upper hand. He loved giving directions instead of working himself.

3. George and Harris reacted very positively towards this. Instead of being bossed and directed they relaxed and made Jerome do all the packing, just the opposite of what Jerome had planned.

4. Jerome did not like their reaction. He had to do all the hard work of packing while the two of them idled about.

5. Jerome's real intention was to show off his packing skills and order his friends around. He wanted them to do all the running around while he would just pack the things.

6. After the entire  packing was done and the bag was shut and strapped Harris said that Jerome had not packed his boots.

He did this purposefully to irritate the author and make him redo the entire packing.

7.  Jerome was struck by the horrible idea whether he had packed his tooth brush. Whenever he packed this thought always haunted him.

8. Jerome finally found his tooth brush inside his boot.

9.Jerome had to reopen the packed bag to look for his tooth brush. He rummaged through his entire bag to find it.
