20 men do the work in 27 days if time spent per day is increased by one third of the previous time

Given:

30 Men  can do a piece of work in 24 days.

Time spent per day is increased by one third of the previous time

To Find:

.In how many days now 20 men can complete the work

Solution:

Let say time spent every day is  3t hrs

(3t is assumed because one third of 3t will be t )

Work done by 1 man in 1 day = 3t man hrs

Work done by 30 men in 1 day = 30 * 3t = 90t man hrs

Work done by 30 men in 24 days =24* 90t = 2160t man hrs

time spent per day is increased by one third

Hence new time spent per day = 3t + 3t/3 = 4t hrs

Now Work done by 1 man in 1 day = 4t man hrs

Work done by 20 men in 1 day = 20 * 4t = 80t man hrs

Work done by 20 men in d days =d* 80t =80dt man hrs

(d is the number of days in which 20 men will complete the work)

Equate the man hrs and solve for d

80dt = 2160t

80d = 2160

8d = 216

d = 27

Hence 20 men do the work in 27 days if time spent per day is increased by one third of the previous time
