The questions have been asked from the story The Little Girl at the Window  by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.

1) Totto Chain said those words to her mother

2) The gate was outside the school. The gateposts were trees with roots.

3) Totto Chan thought that the gate was growing, as last when she visited the school, the gate had pillars with the school's name. Whereas, now she had to put her head on side to read the name.

  2. The gate was outside the school.
  3. Totto-chan thought that the gate was growing because the gateposts were actually trees with a few roots.
