math](A-B) \cup (A \cap B)[/math]

[math]= (A \cap B^C) \cup (A \cap B)[/math]

[math]= A \cap (B^C \cup B)[/math] This is the distributive property

[math]= A \cap U[/math] where [math]U[/math] is the “universe” of sets you are working in

[math]= A[/math]
