(i) angle RSM = angle MLQ (alternate interior angle)

angle SMR = angle LMQ (common)

QM = MR (given)

Triangle SRM is congruent to Triangle LQM

(ii) By using Thales Theorem or Basic Proportionality Theorem

SR/LQ = RM/QM = SM/LM

SR/LQ = RM/QM

Here we replace SR with PQ and RM by QM because RM = QM (given)

PQ/LQ = QM/QM

PQ/LQ = 1

PQ = LQ

PQ = QL

(iii) As PQ = QL we have proved above then,

PQ = SR equation 1

QL = SR equation 2

By adding equation 1 and 2 we get,

PQ + QL = SR + SR

PL = 2 SR
