'Thou hast made me endless...' is the first poem from the collection of poems "Gitanjali" by Rabindranath Tagore. 'Gitanjali' is a collection of poems first written in Bengali and later translated into English by the poet himself. He was conferred Nobel Prize in 1913 and became the first non-European to recieve it. The poems are devotional songs written in praise of God.
In this poem, the speaker thanks God for all that He provides in his life. He says that his life is a 'frail vessel' and God fills it up with 'fresh life'. The speaker compares himself to a reed which is very insignificant, but God has renewed his life and made it melodious. When God touches him with his immortal hands, he says that his heart knows no bounds and sings with joy. Finally the speaker praises God for filling up his life with gifts constantly and the more gifts he recieves, the more room there is for some more.
The poem highlights the benevolence of the Almighty and shows that if man submits himself to His greatness, his life will be happy and contented.
