The Canterville Ghost is a unique story, one of a kind. This is the only ghost story that makes the readers laugh. The Otis family has been shown so naturally and temperamentally impervious to the ghost of Sir Simon D Canterville that the latter's all attempts to scare them prove futile; in place of he scaring them, he himself is scared of them. The twins derive enormous pleasure by playing pranks on him. They always waylay him to have him trapped in their traps. He becomes the target of all their tricks. Finally he becomes so much scared of them, that he decides to remain confined in his cell. All this hide and seek between the twins, and the ghost and the pranks they play upon him; and the ghost's helplessness in front of them is quite humorous.
