Though earth is acting as a huge bar magnet but it is not attracting other ferromagnetic materials because -

• The magnetic field of the earth is expanded in a huge field around the external surface of the earth and due to this huge expansion, the strength of this magnetic field is very weak in a particular spot. This weak magnetic field in a particular spot is not enough to affect the ferromagnetic materials.

• On the other hand,the ferromagnetic materials are very small as compared with the size of the earth and that's why the magnetic affects are not major for these ferromagnetic materials.
