Mercury has no gas layer so, the heat is not trapped. So, one side of the Mercury remains very hot and the other side remains cold. On the other hand Venus has air layer, thicker than the Earth and the primary gas is the carbon dioxide, which is a green-house gas. As a result it contains heat so, it is hotter than Mercury.
