Sugar solution will come clean without any residue bcoz it is completely solved in water.
Starch solution will be translucent bcoz it has higher molecular structure will not dissolve completely.
Sand will give Residue bcoz it is not dissolvable.

Starch will give translucent filtration and fine sand will give a residue on filter paper on filtration.

Explanation:

  • When we add sugar in water then it will dissolve in water because sugar molecules tend to form hydrogen bonds with water molecules. As a result, a clear solution will be obtained.
  • Whereas when we add starch in water then a translucent solution is obtained because it will form a colloidal solution as its tiny particles will suspend into water. As a result, a translucent filtration will be obtained.
  • On the other hand, when we add fine sand into water then its particles will not dissolve in water and after some time they will settle at the bottom. Therefore, when this solution is filtered out then a residue will remain on filter paper on filtration.
