Three blocks of masses 2 kg, 3 kg and 4 kg are connected to each ohter with light string and are placed on a frictionless surface.

The force of 10 N is applied on 2 kg block.

To Find:

Acceleration of masses

Solution:

 external force on the system is 10N

Other than that, there is no external force of friction

Hence all the blocks will move together as a system due to the influence of 10 N force.

Total mass of the system = 9 kg.

Tension in the strings are internal forces and they cancel each other.

F(net ) = ma

F(net)= 10 N

10 N =( mass of system)(acceleration of the system)

10 = 9a\\a = \frac{10}{9} \frac{m}{s^{2} }

Acceleration of the system is equal to \frac{10}{9}\frac{m}{s^{2} }
