Three blocks of masses m1, m2 and m3 are placed on a horizontal frictionless surface. A force of 40 N pulls the system from side where m1 is. Calculate the value of T, if m1 = 10 kg. , m2 =6kg and m3 =4kg.

Answer:

According to the problem the masses are m1 = 10 kg m2= 6kg and m3 = 4 kg

Now the masses are placed on a horizontal surface.

Let f be the force applied on the top most block in upward direction

therefore f = 40 N

let g = 10 m/s^2

Let the inclined plane is making an angle with horizontal plane is θ = 60 degree

Therefore the acceleration due to the gravitational force is, g sin60 degree

The tension in the pulley is given as

T1 = m1 x g sin θ  = 10 x  10 sin 60 = 86.60 N

T2 = m2 x g sin θ = 6 x 10 x sin 60  = 51.96 N

T3 = m3 x g sin θ  = 4 x 10 x sin60 = 34,64 N
